Hackathon: Sherbrooke Wins the Provincial Final

A Sherbrooke team was crowned grand prize winner of Québec’s open data Hackathon, which included finalists from the regional competitions that took place earlier in Sherbrooke, Québec, and Montréal.

The winning team, which includes five Web developers—Jean-Francois Potvin, Joannie Laflamme, Fabien Bourdon, Alexandre Boucher, and Billy Braga—distinguished itself with its “Today” app, which suggests ideas for activities in Sherbrooke, Montréal, Québec, and Gatineau.

Today app hackathon Sherbrooke

Created from standardized event and activity data provided by the cities, todayapp.ca incorporates over 40 open data games.

The winning team was awarded $12 500, in addition to the $3000 they won on March 24, 2014 during the regional competition.
