The cities of Sherbrooke, Montréal, Québec, and Gatineau as well as the Government of Québec have just adopted a license to share use of their open data, Creative Commons 4.0.

This initiative will ensure the standardization and compatibility of open data from each jurisdiction. The partners have also made a commitment to standardize their data sets. It will therefore be simpler for developers to access them, and the applications developed will be more easily adaptable in other cities.

Hackathons

To highlight this joint initiative to open public data, hackathons will be taking place simultaneously in Sherbrooke, Montréal, Québec, and Gatineau from March 21 to 23, 2014. They will be followed by a provincial hackathon to take place from March 24 to 29, 2014. A number of grants will be up for grabs.
