Université de Sherbrooke’s E-Volve electric vehicle comes first in Shell Eco-marathon Americas
Developed by engineering students at the Université de Sherbrooke, the E-Volve electric vehicle came top of the class in the urban concept/battery electric category in Shell’s Eco-marathon Americas competition.
The race car, whose conception owes much to ultra-light planes, was way ahead of its rivals, achieving an energy efficiency rating of 325.1 km/kWh.
The team of electrical engineering, computer engineering, and mechanical engineering students also won plaudits for its cooperative spirit: it took home the Perseverance and Spirit of the Event Award for gestures such as helping other delegations resolve engineering problems.
The goal of the E-Volve project was to design, manufacture, assemble, and test a single-seater electric vehicle intended for city use.
