Two New Honours for Enerkem
Enerkem started 2013 off with a bang, receiving two major awards.
EBJ 2012 Business Achievement Awards
Enerkem received in the 2012 Technology Merit in the Waste-Management category at the 15th annual EBJ Business Achievement Awards, sponsored by the Environmental Business Journal.
These awards recognize outstanding business performance in the environmental industry. Enerkem was honoured for starting up production of ethanol from non-recyclable waste at its demonstration facility in Westbury, Quebec in the summer of 2012.
Florian Bonnier Award
Enerkem’s second honour came from the Association pour le développement et l’innovation en chimie au Québec (ADICQ; Association for the development of the chemical industry in Quebec) on February 13, 2013 in the shape of the 2013 Florian Bonnier Award, acknowledging the impact of the firm’s development initiatives in Quebec.
Florian Bonnier, ADIQC’s first president, was very keen on the economic development of Quebec’s chemical industry.
“We are proud that our technology and our efforts to stimulate the Quebec economy, develop our manufacturing sector, and create quality jobs have been recognized and rewarded in this way by the industry. It encourages us to keep the momentum going,” stated Vincent Chornet, Enerkem’s president and CEO.
