Sherbrooke and Montpellier Officially Sister Cities

en_sherbrooke_montpellier

Sherbrooke and Montpellier, France, are now officially sister cities, after being “friends” since 2006.

The new cooperation agreement was signed on November 11, 2013, by Bernard Sévigny, Mayor of Sherbrooke, and Hélène Mandroux, Mayor of Montpellier.

The agreement provides for cooperation in the areas of tourism, arts and culture, health sciences, and sports.

At the same time, Destination Sherbrooke has ratified a memorandum of understanding with the Montpellier tourism office.

The sister-city agreement strengthens ties between Sherbrooke and the Montpellier region. It should be noted that Sherbrooke Innopole renewed its cooperation agreement with the Montpellier Agglomération in October 2012. In June 2013, the Université de Sherbrooke signed a strategic framework agreement with four university institutions in Montpellier, known as the Alliance Montpellier–Sherbrooke Plus (AMS+).
