Sherbrooke Company SE2 Raises $915 000 in First Round of Funding

Alice POS - SE2PRESS RELEASE — Sherbrooke company SE2 has concluded the first round of funding at $915K, thanks to the participation of eight members of Anges Québec, Anges Québec Capital, Desjardins Capital, and Sherbrooke Innopole through its Pre-commercialization Fund. The funds raised will be used to accelerate the marketing of its point-of-sales software Alice POS.

Offered as a monthly subscription, Alice POS® is a high-performing, all-in-one solution that provides retailers with operational and financial gains by centralizing information to a single location. Specifically, this software enables inter-branch inventory management, and harmonization of in-store and online sales, conducive to an increase in revenue thanks to optimized resource management.

“By generating additional revenue, Alice POS is modernizing the retail industry. Our solution is easily integrated with core payment and management software systems, and has already been adopted by several major clients in retail. The last two years were dedicated to optimizing our product, and we are now ready to accelerate the marketing of our solution, which has already received a very positive response in the market,” highlighted Charles Beaupré, CEO and co-founder of the company.

“As investors, we have obviously done our research before getting involved. Our research demonstrated that Alice POS® had already been adopted by major clients, who had nothing but high praise for the SE2 solution and team. After studying several other solutions available on the market, these clients explained that they were convinced by the user-friendliness of Alice POS®, its range of advantageous functionalities, and its excellent value for money,” stated Serge Laporte and Jacques Lemieux, both angel investors and members of Anges Québec.

Desjardins Capital is proud to invest in SE2. “The company has developed a technology particularly well suited to multilayered networks involving multiple sales locations,” stated Éric Bolduc, Investment Director at Desjardins Capital. The investment will enable the development of new modules, the signing of new partnerships, the targeting of major clients across various activity sectors, and more.

The company was referred to Anges Québec by Sherbrooke Innopole, the paramunicipal corporation dedicated to the City of Sherbrooke’s economic development, which identified the solution’s potential and has supported the entrepreneurs from the very start.

“Sherbrooke Innopole is proud to have been a part of the financial setup and to continue supporting the expansion of SE2, which is providing a versatile and high-performing solution, while maximizing retailer sales revenue. This young IT company is now entering a decisive and promising stage,” said Marc-Henri Faure, Director – Business Services for the key sector of Information Technology at Sherbooke Innopole.

SE2 has also received strategic support from Espace-inc, an Eastern Townships accelerator incubator that provides business support and coaching to entrepreneurs in the region.

2018 is set to be action packed for SE2, which already has more than 10 employees. “We are confident that, thanks to the funds raised and the expertise made available to us by our financial partners, Alice POS® will become the reference point-of-sales par excellence for ambitious merchants in the retail sector,” noted Charles Beaupré, co-founder and CEO of the company.
