New Program to Accelerate Innovation in SMEs

Good news for innovating SMEs in Canada: a new governmental program provides commercial and technical services to accelerate the marketing of innovative products and services.   

The Business Innovation Access Program (BIAP) will draw upon the networks and expertise of the National Research Council of Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP).

Engineer data capture

Services included through the BIAP:

  • Networking with universities, colleges, and other research institutions
  • External commercial services – ex. planning, marketing
  • Technical services – ex. specialized testing, product prototyping, process development

BIAP is a pilot program of the Government of Canada that will receive $20 million over a two-year period.
