Ledtech, a business located in Sherbrooke that specializes in the assembly and distribution of high-powered LED lighting announced, on November 15th 2012, that it was officially starting its marketing phase. This new step comes after two years of research and development that enabled the Company to design an economical and ecological technology.

Ledtech is now targeting the municipal and industrial sectors. “LED technology is more expensive to buy but has a much longer lifespan and uses a third of the energy required by traditional lighting, explains Jean-Pierre Lavallé, Ledtech’s General Manager.  Advantages for businesses include reduced energy consumption and less light pollution […] Hydro-Québec offers subsidies to businesses that convert to LED”

From an environmental aspect, LED technology is completely recyclable and because of its longer lifespan, less waste is produced.

Morever, Ledtech has patented an optical filter to reduce light pollution by filtering white light produced by LED. The business has been approached by the Mt. Megantic International Dark Sky Reserve to correct a problem with the wave length of the colour blue, which is a health hazard.

Ledtech is located in Sherbrooke’s industrial and currently has six employees. The Company seeks to hire ten new employees in the coming months and to relocate in new premises in 2013.
