The company CannaSher and the Université de Sherbrooke have announced the creation of the CannaSher Research Chair on Medical Cannabis with a budget of more than $1.6M.

Led by Professor Kamal Bouarab, the Chair will seek to improve cannabis shoots, and hence the cannabinoids – molecules of therapeutic value – that they produce; optimize the new cannabis cultivation system developed by CannaSher; and train students at undergraduate and graduate levels.

A number of therapeutic avenues for cannabis, as yet little explored, appear to be promising, given this drug’s pain-killing, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties, and antidepressant and anti-anxiety effects.
