BiopolisQuébec and Life Sciences Ontario join forces in a strategic workshop

Press Release  –   BiopolisQuébec, the alliance of the leading Quebec organizations (Montréal InVivo, Québec International et Sherbrooke Innopole) dedicated to promoting the life sciences sector internationally andLife Sciences Ontario, the voice of life sciences in Ontario, have held today in Montreal a strategic workshop. This workshop followed a first event held on December 6th, 2011 in Toronto within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed by the two organizations.

The objective of this workshop was to set the foundations of a joint industry-led strategy for collaboration within the context of the Quebec / Ontario life sciences corridor; with the ultimate goal of positioning it among the most competitive clusters in the world.

To that aim, three main challenges have been indentified:

–          Promoting the excellence and the competitiveness of the corridor

–          Making the most of the evolving collaborative R&D model within life sciences

–          Joining forces to tackle common sector challenges

Following the workshop, the high-level strategic objectives will be summarized and a plan forward developed by the two organisations; with the aim of sharing this collaborative plan during the BIO international convention later in June. Ultimately, the final strategy will target three specific actions for each of the three themes and these will be prioritized for achievement within three years.
