BionX crowned at the Eastern Townships awards gala for environmental excellence
Sherbrooke company BionX was recognized at the recent Gala des Prix d’excellence en environnement des Cantons-de-l’Est (Eastern Townships awards gala for environmental excellence).The company, member of Sherbrooke Innopole’s Cleantech key sector, won the trophy in the “catégorie Innovation en développement durable” (innovation in sustainable development) category.
BionX specializes in the design, development, production, and marketing of bicycle assistance systems. In 2014, the company launched the D-Series electric motor – lighter, more powerful, and designed for the mountain bike market.

- “Relève” (newcomer) category: COOP de vélo La Déraille
- “Contribution personnelle” (personal contribution) category: Michel Montpetit
- “Petite entreprise ou institution” (small business or institution) category: Café Aragon
- “Coup de cœur – Jeunesse” (top pick – youth) category: Brigade verte du Collège Sacré-Cœur
- “Municipalité, MRC ou organisme municipal” (municipality, MRC or municipal organization) category: City of Sherbrooke
- “Organismes sans but lucratif et associations” (non-profit organization and associations) category: Ressourcerie des Frontières
The Fondation estrienne en environnement (environmental foundation in the Estrie region) also highlighted the success of young Sherbrooke business Rackam, which won the Innovation award in 2011.
