American Biltrite, in the Advanced Manufacturing key sector, today unveiled a strategic investment of $11M to reach its growth objectives and increase its competitiveness in the floor covering market.

This major investment, which will specifically impact its Sherbrooke factory, demonstrates the commitment of American Biltrite to the city. Established in downtown Sherbrooke for more than 100 years, the company specializes in manufacturing floor coverings, industrial rubbers, and polymer products.

The strategic investment plan is divided into three phases, the first of which has already been completed by purchasing new equipment. The company has developed a technology whose basis was developed in partnership with the Université de Sherbrooke. This technology will now enable the company to manufacture floor coverings that don’t require any initial conditioning before installation, that are more stain resistant, and whose surface is much easier to clean. This new patent-pending process will enable the company to grow and acquire new market shares.

The all-new project will create 30 jobs for operators, technicians, engineers, and supervisors.
