$1.1M to Attract and Retain Immigrant Workers in Estrie

Gouvernement du QuébecFour organizations in the region, partners of the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Diversité et de l’Inclusion (MIDI), are sharing funding of $1.1M from the Government of Québec to foster the long-term settling of immigrants in Estrie:

  •  Fédération des communautés culturelles de l’Estrie : 144 999 $
  • Service d’aide aux Néo-Canadiens de Sherbrooke : 635 937 $
  • Pro-Gestion Estrie : 298 000 $
  • Sherbrooke Innopole : 45 000 $

“The scarcity of labour is a major challenge that can seriously slow the growth of our companies. We are focusing our efforts on supporting projects like the virtual IT recruitment trade show held in April, which enabled international candidates to apply for IT job offers in Sherbrooke. The high rate of participation and of applications received confirmed to us that foreign workers definitely have an interest in building their lives in our region,” stated Josée Fortin, Director General of Sherbrooke Innopole. “More than ever, it is vital that all stakeholders – companies, organizations, and institutions – work in collaboration to facilitate their efforts. Together, our actions will make a difference.”
