UdeS Student Recipient of Prestigious Grant from Prostate Cancer Canada
Frédéric Couture, a doctoral student at the Université de Sherbrooke, has been awarded one of five $40 000 grants from Prostate Cancer Canada to pursue his promising research. He is the only recipient from a Québec university.
Mr. Couture is conducting research on a new biomarker called PACE4, which could make it possible to determine the aggressiveness of a patient’s prostate cancer. He is working under Robert Day, Université de Sherbrooke professor and researcher at the CHUS’ Centre de recherche clinique Étienne-Le Bel (CRCELB – Clinical Research Centre).
The Edward Nash Graduate Studentship Award presented to Frédéric Couture will further the understanding of this important biomarker. Mr. Couture’s work has the potential to result in treatments that are more tailored to each patient’s reality.
The other grant recipients are:
- Peter Axerio-Cilies, University of British Columbia
- Katie Di Sebastiano, University of Waterloo
- Philip Edgcumbe, University of British Columbia
- Mark Labrecque, Simon Fraser University
