Bishop’s University Principal Receives the Order of Canada
Michael Goldbloom, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Bishop’s University, was recently appointed a Member of the Order of Canada, one of the most prestigious civilian honours.

Goldbloom was conferred the Order of Canada for his commitment to the City of Montréal and his diplomacy in bringing together the English- and French-speaking communities within the City and elsewhere in Québec.
Before assuming leadership of Bishop’s University in 2008, Michael Goldbloom was involved in several organizations, including the Montreal Gazette, the Toronto Star, Alliance Québec, the Ville Marie Social Services Centre, and the YMCA of Québec.
Both of Goldbloom’s parents have also received this honour that highlights exceptional involvement in and contribution to the community.
During the investiture ceremony, presided over by the Governor General of Canada, David Johnston, 41 other recipients became part of the select Order of Canada as Companion, Officer, or Member.
