The young Sherbrooke company IngeniArts Technologies, working in the sector of transport electrification, was granted a prestigious $50 000 Pierre-Péladeau Bursary.

Founded by Rami Jarjour and Philippe Beauchamp, two Masters students in Electrical Engineering at the Université de Sherbrooke, IngeniArts has designed a revolutionary electrokinetic battery.

This patented system combines an inertial flywheel and batteries to solve the cycling problem –discharging and recharging a battery over and over.

Through this innovative technology, IngeniArts seeks to develop and commercialize batteries that are smaller, lighter, more efficient, more reliable, and more eco-friendly than the ones currently in hybrid and electric cars.

IngeniArts is supported by the program Accélérateur de création d’entreprises technologiques (ACET – Accelerator for the Creation of Technological Businesses) and the Université de Sherbrooke Technology Transfer Corporation (SOCPRA). It was one of the participating companies in the last Cleantech Rendez-vous organized by Sherbrooke Innopole.

Given by Quebecor, Pierre-Péladeau Bursaries support new generations of entrepreneurs with financial assistance.  Two other Quebec projects were granted bursaries–of $30 000 and $20 000–in 2014.
