Cégep de Sherbrooke Takes Home Bronze IPAC/Deloitte Public Sector Leadership Award
Sherbrooke College (Cégep de Sherbrooke) has received a prestigious Canadian award—the bronze IPAC/Deloitte Public Sector Leadership Award—for its commitment to reducing its greenhouse-gas emissions.
This general and vocational college became the first educational institution to be recognized under the Canadian Standards Association’s Registered Carbon NeutralTM Program.
It stood out among more than 100 candidates for the IPAC/Deloitte Public Sector Leadership Awards for the sustainable development policy it adopted in 2006 and its action plan, which enabled the college to reduce its energy consumption by 38% and its CO2 emissions by 2,700 tonnes.
The Sherbrooke institution took home its award in the education category, alongside the University of Toronto and McGill University.
The IPAC/Deloitte Public Sector Leadership Awards, a joint initiative of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada and professional services firm Deloitte, recognize organizations that have demonstrated outstanding leadership by taking bold steps to improve Canada through advancements in public policy and management.
