De La Fontaine Planning Major Expansion Projects

The steel door and frame manufacturer De La Fontaine will soon expand in Sherbrooke and in the United States to support its sales growth.

This Sherbrooke company is planning to enlarge its factory on Brodeur Street during the summer of 2015.

General Manager Gabriel de La Fontaine specified that between 12 000 and 20 000 square feet will be added to the facility, which currently covers 65 000 square feet. De La Fontaine will also buy new equipment, bringing the overall planned investments up to $3 million.

De La FontaineDe La Fontaine also intends to take advantage of the burst of activities in the construction sector in the United States, by opening a second plant in 2017. This manufacturer already has a hybrid production factory in Woburn, Massachusetts, which thrives on short delivery times – between 24 to 48 hours. The new factory, which will be located near Washington D.C., will use the same concept.

De La Fontaine has been experiencing ongoing growth in the past years: this third-generation family business has been recording 10% increases in sales every year for the past four years. It currently employs 165 workers.
