An Observatory on Sustainable Mobility in Sherbrooke
The Observatoire sur la mobilité durable (Observatory on Sustainable Mobility) will soon be a reality in Sherbrooke. Jointly created by the Société de transport de Sherbrooke and the Université de Sherbrooke, the OMD will facilitate collaboration between the two organizations by integrating the field of teaching and research. The organization would like to contribute to the development of sustainable mobility in Sherbrooke.
Among other things, the observatory will make it possible to organize activities, carry out research and disseminate projects, host interns, and share expertise. In addition, a growing number of research projects will focus on transportation in Sherbrooke thanks to the creation of this observatory.
The initiative is part of Sherbrooke’s Plan de mobilité durable 2012-2021 (Sustainable Mobility Plan 2012-2021). The first step will be to develop the indicators that will determine the success – or failure – of a sustainable development strategy.
The agreement between the City and the Université will last three years. The announcement was made Wednesday near the end of the Forum sur la mobilité intelligente (Forum on Smart Mobility), that was taking place in Sherbrooke.
