Multinational Genetec Deploying its Operations in Downtown Sherbrooke

Genetec

PRESS RELEASE – Genetec, a major company specializing in security systems whose headquarters are located in Montréal, began operating in Sherbrooke after the opening of its brand-new satellite office.

To meet its considerable ICT staffing needs, the business is hoping to recruit experts and graduates from the region. The significant number of computer science students at the Université de Sherbrooke has proven to be a valuable asset in addressing its recruiting challenges.

The quality of life offered in Sherbrooke also weighed in when the time came for the company to select where to set up shop. Genetec decided to locate its offices in a work environment that its employees would find pleasant: bright, open-space offices, located downtown.

The Sherbrooke team currently consists of six developers and two interns from the Université de Sherbrooke. One of its developers had come to the attention of Genetec recruiters because he was one of the winners of the latest Hack Sherbrooke competition. Genetec is hoping to gradually increase its staff in the Estrie region in the coming months.

The vitality of the IT sector in Sherbrooke truly impressed me! Sherbrooke Innopole’s counsellor integrated us into this community and got us in touch with people from the field,” said Gabrielle Gendron, Talent Acquisition Specialist at Genetec.

Operating in the IP technology sector, Genetec has developed a platform incorporating several components linked to security: video monitoring, access control, and car plate identification. It employs more than 800 people distributed between its headquarters in Montréal, its new offices in Sherbrooke and Québec City, and various places around the world.
