Les Meubles B.O.F.F. to Build a New Facility in Sherbrooke
PRESS RELEASE – Currently located on Galt Street West , Les Meubles B.O.F.F. announced the acquisition of a property on Robert-Boyd Street in Sherbrooke’s Regional Industrial Park. As of spring 2019, this Sherbrooke wall bed manufacturer will build a 20 000-sq.-ft. building (1858 m2) on that property.
This growth initiative will generate investments in excess of $2.3M and enable the creation of 10 new jobs while consolidating 15 more. By the end of 2019, the business plans on hiring welders, press operators, and cabinetmakers.
Founded in 1986, Les Meubles B.O.F.F. builds, assembles, markets, and installs wall beds, storage units, and desks, tailor-made in a wide selection of sizes, styles, colours, and layouts. In addition to its manufacturing facility in Sherbrooke, the business has 2 showrooms in Laval and Toronto, as well as 20 points of sale across Canada through distribution partners.
“Les Meubles B.O.F.F. will soon be writing a new chapter in its history in the Regional Industrial Park, after a quarter of a century at its Galt Street West location. The business has experienced constant growth over the past years, and we are excited to keep this momentum going in a brand new facility. This is a great opportunity to optimize the work space on a single floor, for the benefit of our team and clients, to whom we offer Canadian-made products,” stated Jocelyn Fontaine, Sales Manager at Les Meubles B.O.F.F.
This Sherbrooke manufacturer will also acquire new equipment to increase its productivity and production capacity, including a more efficient paint room.
At the same time, Les Meubles B.O.F.F. will intensify the production of wall bed mechanisms. These systems, which are more compact and effective, have been sold in Canada on Amazon since January 2019 and will soon be sold in the United States. The business expects to increase its mechanism revenues fivefold with this new sales strategy.
Les Meubles B.O.F.F. received support from Sherbrooke Innopole throughout the relocation process. “Les Meubles B.O.F.F. is an example of resilience in the furniture industry. This manufacturer, which mostly sells directly to consumers, has successfully navigated through three decades of significant sector disruptions. We are proud to provide support during this new growth phase,” stated Nathalie Prince, Director of Business Services, Advanced Manufacturing key sector at Sherbrooke Innopole.
