Government of Canada funds Technologie Demtroys Inc.

Press Release

Sherbrooke, Quebec, December 6, 2011 – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that Technologie Demtroys Inc. has been awarded financial assistance from the Government of Canada to undertake the commercialization of a technology derived from research and development.

“The Government of Canada proudly supports the creation of innovation enterprises that, like Technologie Demtroys Inc., operate in the sectors of green technology, information technology and advanced manufacturing, considered priority areas for the economy of the Sherbrooke region,” said Minister Lebel.

With the support of the National Research Council of Canada, one of the founders of Technologie Demtroys developed an innovative heating control system. The Demtroys SystemTM allows users to recover excess heating capacity in multi-use buildings by modulating the amount of energy required to ensure clients’ welfare, while allowing them to regulate their own comfort based on the external temperature. Demtroys System technology adapts to all heating systems and has a direct impact on the reduction of heating-related energy consumption, not to mention greenhouse gases.

The financial contribution from Canada Economic Development will, among others, enable the firm to complete the certified energy measurement and certification process and implement its commercialization strategy, which will include participation in trade fairs.

Information:

This $100,000 repayable contribution has been awarded through Canada Economic Development’s Business and Regional Growth program, an initiative designed to strengthen the conditions conducive to the sustainable growth of Quebec’s regions and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The program’s aim is to help businesses improve their performance, become more competitive and engage in more innovation. It also supports the transfer of technology and research outputs to enterprises and the development of new markets.
