Espace TI by Sherbrooke Innopole – A new shared workspace for information technology businesses in Sherbrooke

PRESS RELEASE – Information technology (IT) businesses now have an all new dedicated shared workspace (coworking) at their disposal in Sherbrooke. Espace TI is a 100% IT building adapted to their specific needs. Created by Sherbrooke Innopole, in collaboration with Axial and CDE Solutions Informatiques, Espace TI is both a user-friendly work environment and meeting place for the Sherbrooke IT community.

Located at 2085 Roy Street and having 2200 pi2 (204 m2) of office space, Espace TI offers an open plan workspace – with the possibility of having a dedicated work station –, four enclosed offices, conference rooms, a mini-gym with a shower, a kitchen space, leisure areas both inside and out, dedicated high-speed Internet access, a secure server room, as well as a high power backup generator.

Leasing plans – either monthly or daily – offered by Espace TI are geared towards several different types of IT professionals and businesses: large firms wanting to test out the waters in Sherbrooke as a new location, young innovative start-ups, businesses in the pre-commercialisation or marketing development phase, telecommuters, and others. More specifically, Espace TI wants to attract businesses developing artificial intelligence, blockchain or quantum computing technologies.

“Today Sherbrooke Innopole is proud to inaugurate Espace TI, a coworking space designed specifically for information technology businesses in Sherbrooke, a vibrant sector. Its creation answers an emerging need in the industry which we endeavoured to fulfill, similar to what we have done in the past with the Espace-inc business incubator-accelerator and the multitenant science building, Espace LABz”, highlighted Josée Fortin, executive director of Sherbrooke Innopole.

A vibrant ecosystem

In addition to renting out space at competitive prices, one of the goals of Espace TI is to bring together and invigorate the Sherbrooke IT ecosystem by holding various activities – training sessions, networking events, lunch & learn events, and more. All of these activities are open to the entire business and student communities. Therefore, in addition to several Techno Drinks and Gaming Drinks events to be held monthly, other events will be added in response to participants’ requests and interests.

“By creating Espace TI, we wanted to offer industry professionals and entrepreneurs a lot more than just a relaxed custom workspace: what we wanted to create is a place where real dialogue, collaboration, and innovation can take place. The location also includes an interesting work & play dynamic, that is sought out more and more, with its proximity parc Lucien-Blanchard, a bike path and lac des Nations”, specified Marc-Henri Faure, director of business services at the key Information Technologies division at Sherbrooke Innopole, adding that reproducing the Espace TI model in downtown Sherbrooke in the not too distant future is already in the planning stage.

Espace TI already has two big name tenants: Coveo, the Québec leader in artificial intelligence, which opened an R&D office, and Studio Pyxis, the Agile software development specialists, which is setting up a software development centre.

The presidents of Axial and CDE Solutions Informatiques, Daniel Giroux and Daniel Lacombe, were very happy to welcome Espace TI to the customized IT building which they have recently acquired: “We wanted to create a quality environment for our employees and to bring technology companies together. The IT hub that is Espace TI allows us to collaborate with innovative people who are as excited about working in the digital domain and information technologies as we are.”
