Électro-5 Increases Its Expansion Projects
PRESS RELEASE – Électro-5—a distributor of electronic, automation, control, and instrumentation products—continues to experience sustained growth in Sherbrooke. During the year, this local business nearly doubled the area of its facility located in the Sherbrooke Regional Industrial Park and is preparing to launch a transactional site to sell its products online.
Established in 1989, Électro-5 completed an expansion of its building on 4135 Industrial Boulevard this past year in order to support its growing business and product diversification, increasing the existing floor space of 6,000 square feet by 4,200 square feet. An investment of over $645,000 was necessary to build the facility addition and purchase new equipment. The expansion project created four new positions and consolidated the 20 existing full-time positions. In implementing its expansion, Électro-5 received technical support from Sherbrooke Innopole.
Since the expansion, Électro-5 has added a new product line: LED lighting for residential and commercial markets. Moreover, the distributor is currently developing a new line of computerized automation products geared to the needs of the industrial sector.
In order to increase its sales force, Électro-5 will also soon have a user-friendly, efficient Website. Access to the company’s extensive catalogue featuring over 500,000 products from some 100 suppliers will be just a few clicks away. “We plan to launch the on-line sale of our products in early 2014,” stated Claude Denis, Électro-5 president and CEO.
For Denis, who is also a mentor with the Sherbrooke Innopole Business Mentoring group, online sales represent a milestone in the history of the company, which has been a fixture in the city for close to 25 years. According to Denis, e-business will yield unbelievable growth opportunities for Électro-5, better enabling it to better serve current customers and make inroads into new markets. “We will,” he maintained, “be better equipped to compete with major players elsewhere in the world and contribute to Sherbrooke’s economic dynamism and reach.”
