E2 Metrix Earns an Excellence Award in Environment

E2 Metrix has won the top award in the Prix d’excellence en environnement des Cantons-de-l’Est (Excellence Awards in Environment in the Eastern Townships) in the Innovation en développement durable (sustainable development innovation) category.

The Sherbrooke company has developed a technological platform that uses electrical current to treat at-risk water and wastewater without using chemicals. The equipment designed, developed, manufactured, and marketed by the company is destined for various markets, such as industrial, municipal, commercial, agriculture, and health settings.

Six other awards were presented to the 19 finalists in the following categories:

  • Jeunesse (youth): École secondaire La Frontalière
  • Relève (emerging businesses): Sustainable campus, Université de Sherbrooke
  • Petite ou moyenne entreprise et institution (small- and medium-sized enterprises and institutions): Estrie Aide
  • Grande entreprise et institution (large businesses and institutions): Domtar —Windsor Plant
  • Municipalité, MRC ou organisme municipal (municipalities, MRCs, and municipal bodies): Municipality of Saint-Étienne-de-Bolton
  • Organisme environnemental ou à but non lucratif (environmental and non-profit organizations): Action Saint-François

Ecotierra, and Défi Polyteck, two other Sherbrooke-based companies in the Cleantech key sector at Sherbrooke Innopole, were among the 2016 finalists.
