More than $9.5M for Fundamental Research in Sherbrooke
The Université de Sherbrooke and Bishop’s University have received more than $9.5M from the Government of Canada through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) discovery research programs.
In total, 55 researchers and 14 students from many disciplines–engineering, physics, science, medicine, computer science, biology, mathematics, etc.–will share $8 134 745 in grants, and $1 482 000 in bursaries.
These funds will promote knowledge advancement that will lead to the discoveries of tomorrow, and will enable these institutions to buy new research equipment.
The envelope for Sherbrooke’s universities, part of an overall investment of $465M that was announced by the Government of Canada in June 2016, will be divided between five programs:
- Discovery grants program
- Scholarship and internship grants
- Research tools and instruments grants program
- Discovery accelerator supplements program
- Discovery development grants
