Major Modernization Project at Soucy Techno
Soucy Holding has confirmed major investments to the Soucy Techno plant in Sherbrooke. The project, evaluated at $14.2 million, involves the expansion of its facilities, the acquisition and manufacture of equipment, as well as the creation of a research and development centre for new components.
Specializing in the production of rubber compounds, Soucy Techno will add 40 000 sq. ft. on two floors. The future Centre of Excellence in Rubber Production will enable the Sherbrooke company to enhance the quality of its rubber recipes and to develop new ones.
In the long term, the investment plan will expand the production capacity of the plant located on Saint-Roch Road South by 10 million pounds.
Soucy Techno plans to create 22 jobs over the next three years. The company currently employs 169 people.
The Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et des Exportations, through Investissement Québec, and the Government of Canada, through Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions, have confirmed repayable financial contributions of $2.6 million and $2 million, respectively, for this project.
At the same time, Soucy Holding announced the expansion of two Soucy International plants in Drummondville. This project, estimated at $93.6 million, has also obtained financial assistance from the two levels of government.
