An Additional $65M for the Anges Québec Capital Fund
The Anges Québec Capital fund, which finances the start-up of innovative Québec businesses, has now reached $85M, thanks to a new wave of investments totaling $65M.
The Government of Québec ($10M), the Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec ($25M), the Fonds de solidarité FTQ ($15M), and Investissement Québec ($15M) have contributed to the recapitalization of the venture capital fund.
“This is excellent news for Québec entrepreneurship. The $85 million invested in the Anges Québec Capital fund will enable us to have a much more significant impact on the development of new companies. (…) These new amounts reflect potential investments in more than 55 companies,” noted François Gilbert, Chairman and CEO of Anges Québec and Anges Québec Capital.
The fund’s first allotment of $20M resulted in 15 investments, including three in businesses from the Estrie region, which received $1.5M.
Simultaneously, the Anges Québec network, with its 165 private investors, invested in 44 promising seed or start-up companies. Six of them are located in Estrie, and were allocated a total of $5M.
