A UdeS-Designed Urban Electric Vehicle at the International Consumer Electronics Show
The Sherbrooke VUE (acronym for “véhicule urbain électrique”), designed by engineering students from the Université de Sherbrooke, was on display at the International Consumer Electronics Show that took place in Las Vegas January 7 to 10, 2014.
The vehicle was featured at the booth of German company Elektrobit, one of the VUE project’s major partners.
Eleven Université de Sherbrooke mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering students worked on the project’s second phase, launched in 2012. Seven of them travelled to Las Vegas to present the final product.
The 2012 team had replaced the engine of a Smart car with an electric propulsion system. In 2013, the students incorporated artificial intelligence into the Sherbrooke VUE, introducing advanced technology in navigation, route guidance, and infotainment.
More than 8800 hours of work was required for this bachelor’s degree final project.
