3rd Cleantech Rendez-vous: Eight green businesses introduce themselves to Québec Leaders
PRESS RELEASE – Today, Sherbrooke welcomes industrial and institutional Leaders and Investors from all over Québec for the 3rd edition of the Cleantech Rendez-vous hosted by Sherbrooke Innopole under the banner “More intelligent and better integrated green technologies” in front of 150 participants.
Under the honorary presidency of Serge Auray, President of Laboratoire M2, and accompanied by Sherbrooke Mayor, Bernard Sévigny, this event, unique in Québec, enables regional green businesses to meet investors and large purchasers to stimulate the creation of business partnerships and acquire provincial notoriety.
“Businesses presenting this year are much diversified. They have developed technology and expertise in the area of solar energy, odours, water and the electrification of transportation. They also have the potential to integrate themselves in the green economy market, which is in constant evolution. Today’s event provides an excellent showcase to initiate new business and partnership opportunities. Because providing ourselves with a greener… and more intelligent life environment is a collective endeavour,” points out Sherbrooke Innopole’s Chloé Legris Director, Business Development – Cleantech key sector.
Businesses selected for this year’s event are: Samson Odeurs Spécialité, Crysam Technologies, Enviro-acces, IngeniArts Technologies, Bacta-Pur, MC2 Energy and DataToWeb, while the BRP-Université de Sherbrooke Centre for Advanced Technology presents its expertise in the development of products for sustainable transportation. It’s in the context of speed-presentations that everyone has the chance to introduce their firm, followed by a networking period.
For these businesses this Rendez-vous is the climax of a six month process. 2014 entrepreneurs have had access to training and personalized coaching provided by specialized speakers and coaches. Thus, they were able to fine-tune their competencies and business strategies, in addition to widening their business contacts.
Concrete fallout from participating to the Rendez-vous are numerous. Sigma Energy Storage, which participated to the 2013 edition of the event, met there its new President and Chief Executive Officer and third shareholder. This Sherbrooke business is currently a finalist for the Québec Entrepreneurship Contest, next June. Ecotierra, a participant in the 2012 Rendez-vous, developed, pursuant to a meeting during the event, a partnership with the Sherbrooke Cégep to compensate for the production of the institution’s greenhouse gases (GHS).
New this year, the Cleantech Rendez-vous has associated itself to the Créneau ACCORD des bio-industries environnementales de l’Estrie (Estrie ACCORD for the environmental bio-industry market sector). Numerous partners also supported the event: Desjardins Innovatech, the Center of Excellency in Energy Efficiency (C3E), Cycle Capital Management, le Centre de technologies avancées BRP-UdeS (Advanced Technology Centre), le Centre d’entreprises et d’innovation de Montréal (CEIM) (the Montreal Centre for businesses and innovation) and the ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et des Exportations (Ministry for economy, innovation and exportation).
The 2014 Rendez-vous is taking place alongside the 6th symposium for the ecodevelopment of Québec teaching institutions hosted this year by the Université de Sherbrooke.
