The faculty of engineering at the Université de Sherbrooke was recruited by Gentec to take part in the development of the Tomahawk-e, a 100% electric kit car designed by Mario Dubuc.

Students and professionals in Sherbrooke will participate in the design of the powertrain and control devices.

The distinguishing feature of this car is that the buyer will build his or her own vehicle. The UdeS will need to find safe, modular solutions for all electrical elements (power windows, wipers, etc.).

As the result of a partnership between Dubuc Super Light Cars (SLC), Gentec, and the UdeS, Tomahawk-e was first introduced at the Québec City International Auto Show. The kit car should be launched by 2015.

Many ongoing projects to create electric cars are currently underway at the Université de Sherbrooke: VUE, Phoebus, e-volve, the SAE Formula Hybrid, etc.
