The Cégep de Sherbrooke Launches its Simulation Training and Research Centre
The first of its kind in a French-language college setting, the Centre de recherche et de formation par simulation (CEREFS – Simulation Training and Research Centre) at the Cégep de Sherbrooke has just been officially inaugurated.
The CEREFS is a learning platform with spaces, laboratories, and tools with leading-edge technology, including six high-fidelity simulators/manikins from childhood to adult age.
The laboratory, adjacent to the Cégep – in the former Maison Aube-Lumière building, is used by the students from four professional and technical programs, in particular nursing and respiratory therapy.
This $2.5-million project seeks to boost the number of graduates in these programs and provide training that more closely resembles real-life practice, among other things.
Companies and institutions from the region’s health care sector will also be able to use the CEREFS’s infrastructure for professional development and R&D purposes.
