Bishop’s University and the Research Centre on Aging Team Up
Although Sherbrooke is already a bastion of research on aging, a new partnership between Bishop’s University and the Research Centre on Aging (CDRV) of the Health and Social Services Centre–University Institute of Geriatrics of Sherbrooke (CSSS–IUGS) will further this area of research.

Through their cooperation agreement, these two institutions intend to stimulate scientific exchanges between their researchers and to provide undergraduate students at Bishop’s University with greater access to the graduate and doctoral internships offered by the Université de Sherbrooke at the CDRV.
The partnership will also promote the sharing of high-tech research infrastructure between the institutions, including the new world-class laboratory of the Canada Research Chair in Health and Well-Being.
Researchers at Bishop’s University and the CDRV have already begun working together. One such example is a project in which smart-phone applications are being designed to promote independence and social participation among the elderly in their community.
In the press release announcing the partnership, Professor Michel Tousignant, scientific director of the Research Centre on Aging, stated that “this new cooperation between our institutions will help keep highly qualified professionals in our region. Cooperation will also increase the capacity for research on aging in Estrie, which is already well known for its expertise in this field.”
