21 % of Estrie region businesses will undergo transfer of ownership within 5 years: these will be able to benefit from the services of brand-new “Centre de transfert d’entreprises (CTE – business transfer centre)”, newly created in the Estrie region.

Based in Winsor, the Centre’s mission is to inform, raise awareness, educate and guide transferors and new owners in the business transfer process.

Services offered by the Estrie region CTE, in collaboration with public and private partners, are:

• Free consultation for transferors and new owners in the transfer or buying process.
• Consulting services on available tools and resources
• Events and training sessions regarding the different aspects of transfer (human, fiscal, financial and legal).

The Estrie region is the ninth Québec region to host a CTE, thus providing concrete assistance to the question of entrepreneurial succession. The regroupement des intervenants en transfert d’entreprises (RITE – Business transfer stakeholder group), the Association des centres locaux de développement de l’Estrie (ACLDE – Association of local centres for the development of the Estrie region) and the Conférence régionale des élus (CRÉ – Regional conference of elected officials) for the Estrie region have contributed to the establishment of the Estrie region CTE.

The project relies on financial support from many partners, including the Ministère des Finances et de l’Économie (MFEQ – Department of Finance and Economy), the Conférence régionale des élus (CRÉ – Regional conference of elected officials), as well as regional economic development agencies, notably Sherbrooke Innopole.

The Estrie region CTE  is coordinated by Céline des Ligneris.
