Motrec Invests Nearly $10M in its New Sherbrooke Plant

Sherbrooke’s world-renowned manufacturer of industrial electric vehicles, Motrec International, is investing $10M for the construction of its new plant, featuring the latest cutting-edge technologies, in the city’s Regional Industrial Park.

A large-scale expansion project to support further growth

The company’s significant growth in recent years and a shortage of space in its current facilities have led to the development of this expansion project. Located at the intersection of Portland Boulevard and Robert-Boyd Street, the plant and offices will cover a total surface area of about 70 000 sq. ft., tripling the company’s current production capacity. The new premises will have a showroom located directly on Portland Boulevard.

“In recent months, our team and valued partners have worked relentlessly to launch this major project, which will provide added value to our company and the region,” stated Blair McIntosh, President and CEO of Motrec International. “With these new facilities, and driven by our strong culture of innovation, we will be able to significantly enhance our productivity and competitiveness on a global scale.”

Through this project, Motrec is reinforcing its commitment to the City of Sherbrooke and its dynamic business community. In addition, to support its growth, the company will be creating numerous new jobs, which will contribute to the economic vitality of the region and to the dynamism of Sherbrooke’s manufacturing industry.

Motrec will also be hiring new employees to meet growing demand for its products. “At Motrec, the wind is in our sails with endless opportunities ahead,” noted Richard Gagnon, General Manager of Operations. “Hence, we are always looking for new talent and experienced workers to join our passionate team.”

The full move into the new facilities is planned for early 2018.
