Winning Strategies for Taking the 4.0 Turn and Recruiting in IT : Rendez-vous des TIC 2017

PRESS RELEASE – More than 110 industrialists, information technology professionals, and players in the region’s innovation ecosystem participated today in the 5th edition of Rendez-vous des TIC at the Sherbrooke Exhibition Centre (Centre de foires de Sherbrooke).

Organized by Sherbrooke Innopole, in partnership with the City of Sherbrooke, the event deals with two current topics in the IT and industrial sectors: the Industry 4.0 as a path forward to ensure the competitiveness of manufacturing businesses and the recruitment of an IT workforce, high in demand in several activity sectors.

“The two-pronged theme of the Rendez-vous des TIC is at once complimentary and relevant to the problems experienced by many organizations in our key sectors. Digitization is indeed becoming more and more important for increasing productivity in a factory setting. It’s a technological challenge doubled with a human challenge for our manufacturers, who must integrate IT experts into their team,” noted Marc-Henri Faure, Director, Business Services–Information Technology and Communications at Sherbrooke Innopole. IT companies are also looking for professionals to support their growth and diversify their markets, for example by exploring new business opportunities generated by the Industry 4.0. By reuniting these two clienteles, we hope to offer not only potential solutions, but also to initiate business meetings.”

The day offers diversified programming, with presentations, testimonials from companies, discussion panels, and networking. Participants will get the chance to learn about the most recent advances in the Industry 4.0, to be inspired by the digital turn of industrial companies from here and elsewhere and to familiarize themselves with the financing tools and the support resources that can help them on this path. They will also discover innovative strategies implemented by Sherbrooke industries to attract and retain talent in IT, as well as learn about the Remarkable Employer certification, and about best practices in international recruitment.

The Rendez-vous des TIC has been followed by the first edition of HackQC, a province-wide programming competition.
