SOCPRA Becomes TransferTech and Creates a Prototyping Fund

TransferTech SherbrookeThe Université de Sherbrooke’s Technology Transfer Corporation (SOCPRA) is changing its name and becoming TransferTech Sherbrooke.

This organization, which has been responsible for marketing inventions arising from research at the Université de Sherbrooke since 2007, is also announcing that it is creating an investment fund for prototyping. This is an important step towards realizing the full potential of emerging technologies, and accelerating their commercialization.With its revamped identity, TransferTech Sherbrooke is reinforcing its commitment to:

    • Connecting the industry and the scientific community to improve the competitiveness of companies;
    • Contributing to the entrepreneurial ecosystem to revitalize the Estrie region’s economic development.

In 2015, 22 inventions from UdeS were transferred, generating revenue of more than $1.2M.

TransferTech Sherbrooke collaborates with many economic actors, such as Sherbrooke Innopole, the Ministère de l’Économie, de la Science et de l’Innovation du Québec (Québec’s Ministry of Economy, Science, and Innovation), and the Accélérateur de création d’entreprises technologiques (ACET—Accelerator for the Creation of Technological Businesses), to help businesses and guide researchers.
